This summer, The Reading Agency invites children to step into the magical world of Story Garden.
The Summer Reading Challenge invites children aged 4–11 to visit their local library, discover new books, and enjoy a summer filled with fun, imagination, and outdoor inspiration.
Available for free in public libraries and online, the Summer Reading Challenge helps children stay engaged with reading during the summer holidays. Participants can discover new books, earn rewards, and enjoy nature-inspired events and activities.
Sign up at any of Knowsley’s libraries or visit summerreadingchallenge.org.uk to begin your adventure.
Children can collect free activity packs, take part in nature-themed events, and borrow books — all designed to keep them curious, active, and engaged with reading over the summer holidays.
Cllr Jayne Lonergan Cabinet Member for Resources said: “ We are delighted to have the Summer Reading Challenge back in Knowsley’s libraries.
“ It’s a wonderful way to encourage children to continue reading throughout the summer holidays and explore new genres of books that they might not normally pick up.
“The challenge is completely free to take part in and every child who completes that challenge will receive a medal once the challenge is complete!”
The summer reading challenge is on now and runs up until 6 September.
