Greystone footbridge lit for International Workers’ Memorial Day

by Sandra Issar

Knowsley’s Greystone Footbridge will be illuminated purple on Friday 28 April to commemorate International Workers’ Memorial Day, remembering those who have lost their lives at work, or from work-related injury and diseases.

‘Health and Safety is a fundamental workers’ right’ is the theme chosen by the International Trades Union Congress (TUC) for this year’s International Workers’ Memorial Day.

Whether it is Covid or occupational cancers, or workplace injuries and industrial diseases, the day highlights every worker should have a right to a voice and a right to protection, and that no-one should have to die to make a living.

People in Knowsley are invited to take part in a one minute silence at 12pm on 28 April, to remember all those who have lost their lives at work.

More information about International Workers’ Memorial Day is available on the TUC’s website.
