Work out and get fit for free

by Gemma Melling

Now that summer’s here, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors and get fit by trying out the new ‘Work Out’ green gyms in parks across Knowsley.

Not only are the gyms in scenic locations, but they boast the latest equipment – including static bikes, bench presses and steppers – giving you all the fitness benefits of going to the gym for free! There are also ‘natural’ structures like climbing frames, as well as fitness trails and exercise circuits using existing path networks.

The gyms have been funded by a £350,000 grant from Public Health England aimed at encouraging more people to get involved with sport for free.

Our video shows fitness trainer Juanita Steel show you how shape up by using the green gyms.
