Free transport to help you get vaccinated

by Emily Maguire

It’s now easier and more convenient to get your COVID-19 vaccination in Knowsley. You can find out where your nearest drop-in COVID-19 vaccination site is by visiting www.knowsleynews.co.uk. No appointment is needed at a drop-in site, and your closest site may in a neighbouring borough.

Alternatively,  you can still book your vaccination by calling 119 or visiting www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination

Knowsley residents who may find it difficult to travel to their COVID-19 vaccination appointment now can get support through the local travel offer.

Bus vouchers

Travel vouchers to be used on any local bus operator can be claimed from any of the borough’s asymptomatic testing sites from Wednesday 14 July. These vouchers are limited and offered on a first come first serve basis. Vouchers expire on 31 August 2021. Please only attend an asymptomatic testing site if you don’t display any symptoms. The testing sites are located at:-

Kirkby – 11a Market Square, L32 8RG

Huyton – Unit 1, 22 Derby Road, L36 9UJ

Halewood – The Halewood Centre, L26 9UH

Prescot – Prescot Shopping Centre, Aspinall Street, Prescot, L34 5GA

Sites are open Tuesday to Thursday from 9:30am until 4.30pm, Friday from 9.30am to 4pm and Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

Taxi service

Knowsley Council has worked in partnership with Healthwatch Knowsley to provide a taxi service for residents who do not have access to transport to get to a drop-in vaccination site or to a pre-booked appointment.

If you are a Knowsley resident, and you don’t have access to transport, you can call 0151 449 3954 (lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and 10am to 5pm at weekends) and they will talk you through your options to get to your appointment or a drop in clinic close by to you.

This service is available for journeys to and from the closest vaccination site to you.
