Update: 25.4.20: The council has now received a planning application from Whitakers Garden Centre to relocate to a site on Manchester Road, Prescot. Once this appliation has been verified and published, a public consultation will follow.
For some time, Whitakers Garden Centre in Prescot has been looking to relocate to a new site, still within the Prescot area.
Knowsley Council has been working with them to identify a suitable location and expects a planning application to be received soon. Once this has been received more details of the proposed location will be available to the public.
Meanwhile, the council has received further information from house builder Taylor Wimpey in support of their planning application to build 227 new family homes on the current garden centre site, off Liverpool Road, Prescot.
Despite the current issues presented by the Coronavirus pandemic, Government guidance recommends that local planning applications, such as this one, continue to be dealt with in the usual manner. As a result, Knowsley Council has assessed this application and judged it to be sufficiently complete and consultation on the proposed development has started.
Given the current situation, the council will be significantly extending the scope of the public consultation to ensure that everyone who wishes to have their say can do so.
