Cllr Christine Bannon, Cabinet Member for Health, attended a ‘Pedal for Purpose’ fund raising event at Our Place in Huyton earlier today, organised by Merseyside Youth Association (MYA).
Young People got on their bike, literally, to cycle 127 miles – the length of the Liverpool / Leeds Canal. The spin bikes were kindly provided by local leisure operator Volair.
As well as raising money, young people hosted a number of stalls including a school uniform and clothes donation stall and also collected food donations for MYA’s Food and Clothes Hub.
Cllr Christine Bannon, Cabinet Member for Health, said: “I was delighted to go along to Our Place in Huyton today to support this fantastic fundraising initiative.
“Everyone who took part should be incredibly proud of their achievements, raising funds for such a good cause at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, as well as support local communities through the food and clothes hub.
“Well done to everyone who took part.”
