Families in Knowsley will continue to benefit from a range of support thanks to the extension of the Government’s Household Support Fund.
A total of £3.282m has been allocated to be used from April 2025 until March 2026 which will be shared with families and community groups and organisations working in the community.
The funding will be used to support:-
- The provision of free school meals to eligible families during school holidays for the year.
- Knowsley Foodbank and providing food essentials.
- 15 community based groups / organisations to receive funding to address specific needs in local communities.
- Residents with fuel and other utility bills.
- Carers through the delivering of a Carers Food Scheme by Knowsley Carers Centre. The scheme provides emergency food and essentials parcels to those in need.
- Knowsley Disability Concern to continue the delivery of their emergency food pantry for service users struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
- The provision of financial advice to residents.
- Vulnerable children and families through the provision of food, fuel and other household essentials.
Knowsley Council has been supporting residents over the past few years thanks to its own investment of over £4.9m in a Knowsley Better Together Hardship Fund, complemented by the Government’s Household Support Fund.
Cllr Jayne Lonergan, Cabinet Member for Resources at Knowsley Council, said: “This latest funding allocation will be used to provide targeted support to our communities.
“We know that the cost of living crisis is continuing and our communities are facing a range of different challenges. We are doing all that we can to ensure our residents have access to the essentials that they need.”
