Free heart health event

by Guy Murphy

A free heart health event is taking place at the Old School House, St Johns Road, Huyton on 22 October from 10am until 3pm.

Anyone aged 40 and above, who hasn’t recently had a heart attack or been diagnosed with heart failure, can come along and get checked.

Cllr Christine Bannon, Cabinet Member for Health, said “Please do take the time to pop along to the Pumping Marvellous free heart health check event on 22 October.

“The checks will help you to understand your heart health numbers and take steps to reduce your risk.”

You’ll learn more about the symptoms of heart failure and the support that is available. Heart failure is a condition where your heart cannot pump blood around your body as well as it should and you may need support to help it work better. Symptoms include fainting or feeling light headed, feeling very tired or weak when you’re resting which gets worse with movement, shortness of breath and swelling in your feet and ankles. There is lots of help and support available to help people to live well with heart failure.

The event has been arranged by Pumping Marvellous, the heart failure charity, working alongside Knowsley Council and other partners including Liverpool John Moores University and local NHS organisations.

You can read more about Pumping Marvellous here and further information about health and wellbeing advice and support can be found on the Healthy Knowsley website.
