A host of free, fun activities will be available to Knowsley’s children and young people this summer with the return of the Knowsley Sport Nutrition Active Play (SNAP) initiative.

The SNAP initiative, which is funded by the Government’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, is returning following its success over the Easter holidays.

Thousands of sessions have been made available throughout the holidays and those attending receive a free, healthy, nutritious meal as part of the offer.

The free activities will range from multi-sports to crafts, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Cllr Margaret Harvey, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “The Holiday Activity and Food Programme will enable children and young people across the borough to engage in a range of fun, healthy activities. Not only is this great for the children it will also be a huge support to parents and carers.”

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said: “This support ensures everyone in our communities will have uninterrupted access to healthy meals during the summer holidays. There will also be plenty of healthy activities to keep children active and entertained throughout the school break.”

Cllr Louise Harbour, Deputy Leader of Knowsley Council, said: “It’s important that children stay active and healthy during the summer holidays. The Holiday Activity and Food Programme will ensure there will be something for everyone to enjoy. The activities will be fun and engaging affording opportunities to everyone.”

Racheal Jones, Chief Executive Officer of One Knowsley who are delivering the HAF programme, said: “There will be a fantastic range of fun activities and free healthy food to ensure eligible children and young people across the borough will have a summer holiday to remember.”
