FREE business breakfast for local employers who can support inclusive employment opportunities

by Guy Murphy

Knowsley Council is hosting an event for local employers who are interested in engaging with programmes aimed at supporting young people with neurodivergent conditions and learning disabilities to raise employment aspirations.

Taking place at QVC’s Head Office in Kirkby on Tuesday 28 July, 9am-11.30am, the event will bring together local employers, business leaders and support organisations to explore how businesses can play a role in inspiring and engaging young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

The event is part of Knowsley’s Youth Transformation Pilot and attendees will hear directly from employers and people who have benefited from inclusive employment initiatives.

Knowsley Council currently offers a range of inclusive employment programmes through Empowering Knowsley, including Meet the Employer, Supported Internships and the Empower Job Design Programme.

Businesses attending the event do not need to be in a position to offer jobs to get involved, with a variety of ways to support young people available including:

  • Delivering business talks or careers presentations
  • Hosting workplace visits
  • Offering work-based taster sessions
  • Providing work experience placements
  • Supporting internship opportunities
  • Creating paid employment opportunities when possible. [eventbrite.com]
