As part of the borough’s ongoing highways improvement programme, works are due to take place on the A57 Liverpool Road in Page Moss.
Advance notice is being shared so that drivers can plan their journey.
What is happening on Liverpool Road and when?
Resurfacing works are scheduled for the A57 Liverpool Road on both sides of the carriageway – eastbound from Dinas Lane to Terminus Road and westbound from Twig Lane to Dinas Lane.
To minimise disruption and maintain traffic flow, the works will be undertaken in phases and will mainly take place in the evening, overnight and at weekends.
Any overnight activities after 11pm will be limited to minimal noise impact work, such as carrying out road markings, refixing gulleys and manholes and work vehicles will be parked away from residential properties.
Road and lane closures will be necessary whilst the works are undertaken as follows:-
Thursday 24 September to Sunday 27 September 2026
Road closure on Liverpool Road (Prescot-bound) between Turriff Road and the Princess Drive Junction.
Work will take place from 7:00pm to 5:00am (Thursday and Friday); 7:00am on Saturday to 1:00am on Sunday; and 7:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday.
On Friday 25 September from 11pm, the entrance to McDonalds and Lidl will be resurfaced. Every effort will be made to keep noise to a minimum and complete the works as quickly as possible.
Thursday 1 October to Sunday 4 October 2026
Road closure from Turriff Road on Liverpool Road (Prescot-bound) with works being undertaken between the Princess Drive Junction and Terminus Road.
Work will take place from 7:00pm to 5:00am (Thursday and Friday); 7:00am to 11:00pm on Saturday; and 7:00am to 11:00pm on Sunday.
Thursday 8 October to Sunday 11 October 2026
Road closure on Liverpool Road (Liverpool-bound) between Kingsway and the Princess Drive Junction.
Work will take place from 7:00pm to 5:00am (Thursday and Friday); 7:00am to 11:00pm on Saturday; and 7:00am to 11:00pm on Sunday.
Thursday 15 October to Sunday 18 October 2026
Road closure on Liverpool Road (Liverpool-bound) between the Princess Drive Junction and Ashover Avenue.
Work will take place from 7:00pm to 5:00am (Thursday and Friday); 7:00am to 11:00pm on Saturday; and 7:00am to 11:pm on Sunday.
Saturday 24 October to Sunday 25 October 2026
Road closure on Liverpool Road (Liverpool-bound) between Kingsway and the Princess Drive Junction.
Work will take place from 7:00am to 5:00pm.
Monday 26 October to Wednesday 28 October 2026
Lane closures on Liverpool Road (Liverpool-bound) between the Princess Drive Junction and Dinas Lane.
Work will take place from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November 2026
Lane closures on Liverpool Road (Prescot-bound) between Dinas Lane and Terminus Road.
Work will take place from 9:30am to 3:30pm (Thursday and Friday); 7:00am to 5:00pm (Saturday and Sunday).
Businesses and shop access
Businesses will be open as usual throughout the programme of works, but access will be restricted by vehicle when working on the westbound carriageway from 8 October 2026 (from Kingsway to Dinas Lane).
Access to the small retail centre on the eastbound carriageway (from Dinas Lane to Terminus Road) will be maintained except for a short closure from 11pm on Friday 25 September to 5am on Saturday 26 September to carry out the works across the junction.
Diversions
Diversions will be in place whilst the works are ongoing as follows:-
Eastbound diversion – via Finch Lane, Princess Drive, Stockbridge Lane, Heath Road, Woolfall Heath Road and Seth Powell Way.
Westbound diversion – via Seth Powell Way, Woolfall Heath Road, Terminus Road, Stockbridge Lane, Princess Drive and Finch Lane.
