Forthcoming Place, Environment and Climate scrutiny reviews

by Laura Johnston

At the Place, Environment and Climate Scrutiny Committee on 14 July 2026, members approved the forthcoming work programme for 2026/2027.

Topics to be scrutinised were selected following a public consultation asking for ideas and topics to be reviewed by the Committee.

In addition to a task and review of regeneration in the borough’s town centres, other topics that will be reviewed by the Committee during this year include:-

  • Update on the highways maintenance programme.
  • Update on the Council’s Net Zero Delivery Plan 2026-2030.
  • Maximising training and apprenticeship opportunities for Knowsley’s residents.
  • Environmental enforcement and exploring the issue of fly tipping and its impact on areas, such as pest control and the overall blight on the wider environment.
  • The provision of public transport (sustainable and carbon-neutral) in the borough and consider what sustainable and carbon neutral options could be explored.
  • Review of the Supported Housing Strategy and Empty Homes Strategy.
  • To consider the impact of changes to recycling services.
  • Review the performance of the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme.
