For the record – Protests at the Suites Hotel

by Emily Maguire

Following protests outside the Suites Hotel in Knowsley on Friday 10 February 2022, Councillor Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council said:

I am both saddened and concerned to have seen the situation unfold outside the Suites Hotel in Kirkby this evening. The behaviour of those involved was totally unacceptable and has put safety of the local community, police officers and our emergency services who were on the scene, at risk.

This kind of senseless violence and destruction will not be tolerated in our community. The people involved this evening do not represent the people of Kirkby and in fact are the polar opposite of the vast majority of our residents, who are tolerant and compassionate.

I want to thank our colleagues in Merseyside Police for their brave work this evening and for their continued efforts that will go into investigating this matter further, and bringing those responsible to justice.

My message to the rest of our community is one of reassurance. This kind of behaviour is not welcome here and we will not let the wicked and mindless acts of a small minority destroy our community spirit and willingness to support others when in need.
