Flourish FE show their creativity

As part of the Knowsley is 50 celebrations, pupils from Flourish Further Education have created artwork to celebrate this key milestone.

The Borough and Knowsley Council turned 50 on 1 April 2024 and an engaging programme of activities of events have been arranged by communities and the Council.

Flourish Further Education is an education provision for young adults aged 19 to 21 years with very high and / or complex needs. It specialises in sensory and behavioural needs through a curriculum designed to develop their skills and independence, helping young people to prepare for adulthood.

As part of the curriculum, promoting independence is a key priority and community access sessions are arranged where learners go out and about in the borough, exploring facilities and places.

During a visit to a local library, where a range of information leaflets were on display, the pupils wanted to recycle the leaflets and create something with a link to Knowsley being 50.

Pupils worked together to design the flower artwork, painting and spraying watercolours using various art techniques to create 3D flowers.

Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, added:

“This is a great project, showcasing the fantastic artistic and creative skills our Flourish FE learners have.

“It’s a great way to celebrate Knowsley, and the Council, being 50 and I was delighted to hear about this project and receive the artwork, which I will now arrange to be on display at the Knowsley Flower Show on Sunday 4 August at Court Hey Park. Well done to everyone involved.”
