Mores public drop-in events will be held in Kirkby Town Centre in the New Year, for people to find out more about the new Headbolt Lane rail station.
The next drop-in event will be held at Unit 3 (the former Planet Sports unit next to the town centre management office) on St Chad’s Parade on Monday 9 January 2023 between 1pm and 6pm.
Further drop-in events are expected to be held at the same location on the following dates:
- Monday 13 February 2023
- Monday 27 March 2023
- Monday 8 May 2023
Residents will have the opportunity to meet with members of the Liverpool City Region led project team to learn more about what work has taken place so far, what work is remaining and to ask any questions about the new station.
Representatives from Network Rail, Buckingham Group (the contractor undertaking the work) and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority will be on hand to answer any questions or queries people may have.
If you’re unable to attend the drop-in event, but have a question, you can telephone Network Rail’s 24-Hour National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41. More information can also be found via https://headboltlane.commonplace.is/.
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is delivering the £80m Headbolt Lane station project, in partnership with Knowsley Council, Network Rail, Merseyrail, and Northern Rail.
The new station is scheduled to open during the summer next year.
The new station will extend the Merseyrail network, which currently terminates at Kirkby, to a new location off Headbolt Lane. This will improve transport links for the Northwood and Tower Hill areas of Kirkby as well as for Knowsley Business Park.
Northern Rail services from Manchester and Wigan will operate to and from the new three-platform station, which is also designed to support any future plans to build a new rail link to Skelmersdale.
You can find out more about the new station in our Frequently Asked Questions.
