Family Hubs “go live” in Knowsley from 4 September

by Jonathan Kearney

Knowsley is one of 75 local authority areas to benefit from a share of the Government’s £301.75m Family Hubs and Start for Life programme funding package for the period 2022–2025.

The Northwood Family Hub will open at The Pride Centre, Simonswood Lane in Northwood, Kirkby on Monday 4 September 2023.

On the opening day, you can drop-in any time between 10.30pm and 2.30pm to find out what support, activities and help are available through the Family Hub.

On the day you will be able to get a taste of the sessions and support available from the new  Family Hub.  There will be early years activities to try and enjoy, an opportunity to explore the building, take part in fun sessions with your children and information about how you can get involved in helping the offer from the Family Hub develop further in the months ahead.

At the heart of the Family Hub will be services that help give expectant parents and babies a great start to life, supporting parents through parenting classes, learning support, midwifery, health visiting, infant feeding advice and perinatal mental health support.  The aim is to make services easier to navigate and more joined-up, ensuring families receive the right service at the right time.

Family Hubs bring together a range of support and family services in one central place which are easily accessible by families.  A new timetable will be on offer at the Pride Centre which will be initially focused on support to families from pregnancy and help to give children the best start in life.  This will develop to provide support for children up the age of 19 years, or up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

If you live in Northwood and want to help shape the offer from the Family Hub you can get involved by emailing – familyhubs@knowsley.gov.uk

Cllr Margaret Harvey, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “All families need support from time to time to help their babies and children thrive, whether that’s from friends, family, volunteers, or professionals.

“I’m delighted that our Northwood Family Hub is opening soon in Knowsley, ensuring that families have the help and support that they need, when they need it, along with the information and tools they need to care for their babies and children and look after their own wellbeing. Come along from 4 September to see how the team can support you.

“They offer support to families from pregnancy through to children up to the age of 19 years, or up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with a great Start for Life offer at their core.”

The Family Hub at The Pride Centre in Kirkby will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm for booked activities and drop in support.
