Essential works will be commencing next week along the railway boundary line in Halewood.
The works include health and safety vegetation management such as clearing overhead cables, structures and maintaining the safety of the network between Norley Place and Old Hutte Lane.
The council is working alongside Network Rail, who have identified the works are essential for the railway line’s safety.
The trees are in close proximity to power infrastructure and signalling cables, which pose health and safety risks if action is not taken.
Prior to any works commencing, appropriate ecological checks will be undertaken by a qualified ecologist to identify and assess potential risks to protected species and breeding or nesting birds. If any evidence of active nests or other ecological constraints were identified, works would be paused and appropriate mitigation implemented in line with ecological best practice and legal requirements. The site will continue to be monitored throughout the duration of the works.
The works will be carried out this month during day-time hours with further works possibly taking place at a later date subject to conditions on site.
