In April 2020, Knowsley Council received approximately £20 million from the Government to support eligible businesses in the borough.
Since then the council has disbursed nearly £16 million in Small Business grants to 1,400 businesses in the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Sectors, and those businesses that receive Small Business Rate Relief.
In June the Discretionary Business Grant Fund (DBG) was launched to help those businesses that were ineligible for Small Business grants, and could demonstrate a significant fall in income and ongoing high property costs.
Over the last six weeks the council has disbursed 93% of the £739,000 it received, and 126 businesses have received grants.
These grants have been vital to our local economy – helping ensure the survival of shops, cafes, hotels, restaurants and many other businesses.
We are in the final stages of the funding scheme, and the vast majority of eligible businesses have now claimed grants.
The Small Business Grants Fund, the Retail, Hospitality & Leisure Grants Fund and the Discretionary Grants Fund will close by Friday 28 August 2020.
Any monies that are not disbursed by this date must be sent back to the Government. Therefore, if you think that you are eligible and have not already applied, please do so as soon as possible.
