Eccleston Street Improvement Works to Start

by Lisa Bennett

The first phase of work to transform Eccleston Street in Prescot will begin on Tuesday 7 May.

The improvements will include the renewal of the current paving with high quality durable materials, upgrades to street furniture and improved access for pedestrians.

The work is happening as a result of funding secured to improve transport connections in Prescot, which will make the town an even more attractive place for people to visit and spend time.

Funding from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority will also contribute towards major upgrades to Prescot train station which will include a remodelled car park and provision of two new lifts in the train station, together with new pedestrian/cycle facilities and wayfinding signage between the station and town centre.

Eccleston Street illustrative masterplan

Tarmac Trading Limited and Huyton Asphalt Civils Limited have been appointed to carry out the work along Eccleston Street , which will be phased over approximately 12 months. There will be a works embargo for the 2019 festive period.

It is inevitable that extensive highway works of this nature will cause some disruption. However this will be kept to a minimum.
