East of Halewood house builder backs junior football team

Halewood Town Junior FC have been selected to receive a grant from one of the housebuilders at the East of Halewood development.

The Miller Homes Community Fund was set up by the house builder for local community and charity groups to have the opportunity to apply for donations between a minimum of £250 and a maximum of £2,000.

Halewood Town Junior FC’s secretary applied for the first round of the funding contributions in the autumn of 2022, with the aim of securing funds to purchase football kits for their U11 and U13 teams.

The Merseyside club was then granted £500 in funding from Miller Homes, which has helped the team purchase new kit. The money is also being used for sessions at the facility by qualified coaches to fund DBS checks, providing additional equipment and supporting new teams to enter matches competitively.

The FA accredited community football club, Halewood Town Junior FC, aims to offer local children the opportunity to engage in sports no matter their ability. The club’s aim is to provide leading athletic facilities that are accessible to everyone and open to the local youth and community, promoting social inclusion, health and fitness, and diversity.

George Vaughan, secretary at Halewood Town Junior FC commented: “The kids and I would like to say a big thank you to Miller Homes for once again supporting our club. Their generous grant has enabled us to equip our teams with brand-new, full football kits and equipment so they can compete in matches for the first time competitively. They sure look smart.”

Miller’s Wilbury Park development forms part of the East of Halewood development which, once complete, will deliver 1,300 high quality new homes, green open space improvements and investment in infrastructure and local services.

Clare Noakes, Miller Homes’ Sales Director for the North West, added: “It’s great to see our Community Fund helping local initiatives like Halewood Juniors. As we continue to build at Wilbury Park we endeavour to support more causes like this!”

Wilbury Park will consist of three and bedroom homes. For more information about the homes, including how to make a reservation, visit the development website.
