Knowsley Library Service has launched a Digital Buddies scheme to help residents who may need support to get online or build their digital skills.
You will find Digital Buddies based in each of Knowsley’s libraries, they’re friendly members of staff who can help you to get to grips with your devices. The Buddies can show you how to browse the web or do online activities like booking a GP appointment, accessing council services or making a video call. They can also help you with online forms or setting up an email account – plus much more!
How does it work?
Simply call into your local Knowsley Library to speak to a Digital Buddy with any digital query, or if you prefer you can book a one-to-one session by speaking to any member of staff or by phoning the council’s call centre on 489 6000.
If you’re already online you can also email yourlibrary@knowsley.gov.uk or use online chat to book a one-to-one session.
On the day simply bring your laptop, tablet or smartphone along and the Digital Buddy will help you get online and get you started on your digital journey.
The Digital Buddies can help with:
- emailing
- browsing the web and staying safe online
- video calling

Cllr Jayne Aston, Cabinet Member for Resources, said:
“We live in an increasingly digital world, so it’s important that everyone has the right skills to be able to successfully navigate the online environment.
“We have introduced the Digital Buddies to our libraries to help people feel more confident using the internet and online services.
“Digital Buddies can help people of all ages get to grips with their devices, show them how to do online activities like shopping or booking a GP appointment and help with online forms, setting up emails and accessing council services online.
“Whether you are a complete beginner, or simply need some more advice or support the Digital Buddies will be happy to help.
She added:
“If you have a family member, friend or neighbour who you think would benefit from the new service, please tell them to pop into their local Knowsley library and have a chat with one of our friendly members of staff about how our Digital Buddies could help them.
“Hot drinks are available in all of our libraries so anyone can pop in anytime to get warm and get some help using their device.”
