Crime and Communities Team visit Tithe Barn Lane

by Nicola Appleton

This week Knowsley’s Crime and Communities Team and key partners, including Merseyside Police, visited Tithe Barn Lane in Kirkby, in relation to recent incidents of criminal and anti-social behaviour.

During the walkabout letters were issued to residents reassuring them that current issues and concerns are being addressed. Letters also invited and encouraged the community to share any further information about those who are responsible for the unacceptable behaviour.

If any residents do have any information or concerns they’d like to raise please report it to Merseyside Police via 101 or online here. However if there is anything you would like to discuss in confidence with our Crime and Communities Team please email Safer.Knowsley@knowsley.gov.uk

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the team’s weekly walkabouts have continued. Ordinarily the team, ward councillors and partners would join and speak with residents, face-to-face. However, the team continue to visit areas in smaller numbers, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Communities, said: “I’d urge residents living on Tithe Barn Lane as well as Valley Road, Springvale Close, Overton Close and the surrounding areas to share any information you have about the ongoing incidents of criminal and anti-social behaviour in the area. With this information we can better tackle these unacceptable issues.”

This week’s successes for Knowsley’s Local Policing Team

The local policing team continue to patrol areas across the borough where there have been reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries. While the team are successfully tackling this issue, residents are reminded to ensure their vehicles and properties are securely locked to ensure safety. There have been many successes for the team this week with highlights including:

  • The seizure of cannabis resulting in the arrest of a male following a stop and search in Page Moss,
  • The recovery of stolen motorbikes,
  • The arrest of a male in Halewood for the theft of and dangerous driving on a scooter as well as drug offences.
  • An arrest has also been made for the criminal damage caused to a police vehicle in Kirkby,
  • Officers presented a resident in Page Moss with a bunch of flowers and chocolates after being recently burgled.
