COVID-19 symptoms and how to get tested

COVID-19 continues to be circulating in our communities, providing even more threats and challenges as we also move into the flu season.

In Knowsley, cases of COVID-19 are continuing to rise and everyone is asked to play their part to help to stop the spread of the virus.

It’s really important to understand how dangerous COVID-19 is, what the symptoms are and what to do if you display any of them.

What is COVID-19

COVID-19 is a highly contagious infectious disease that is easily passed from person to person.

It spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when the infected person coughs or sneezes.

That is why it is so important to practice good hygiene such as carrying a tissue to catch coughs and sneezes, washing your hands regularly with soap and water and maintain a 2m distance from other people at all times.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

The symptoms of COVID-19 are:-

  • A high temperature
  • A new of persistent cough
  • A loss of taste of smell
What should I do if I have symptoms?

If you have any of the symptoms, you should stay at home and book a test through www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or ring 119.

It’s really important that you stay at home until you have your test result – you could be unknowingly spreading the virus if you don’t stay at home.
