COVID-19 Spring booster campaign launches

by Guy Murphy

The NHS has launched the COVID-19 Spring booster campaign today (21 March 2022) and eligible Knowsley residents will be invited to get their jab over the coming weeks.

Those eligible for a Spring booster include:

  • Adults aged 75 years and over
  • Residents in care homes for older adults
  • Individuals aged 12 years and over who have a weakened immune system

The NHS will contact those who are eligible to make an appointment for their booster and so residents should wait until they hear from the NHS.

Residents are being prioritised by the NHS based on need, starting with those who have had a bigger gap since their last dose.

Not had your COVID-19 vaccination yet?

Knowsley residents who are yet to have had their 1st, 2nd or booster dose are encouraged to get their jab as soon as possible.

COVID-19 is still circulating in our communities and the vaccine offers the best protection against becoming seriously ill, staying out of hospital and passing the virus on to others.

You can find your nearest vaccination centre for appointments or walk-in availability via nhs.uk/coronavirus, calling 119 or speaking with your GP.

Recently had COVID-19?

Those who have recently recovered from COVID should still come forward for their vaccination, as having had the virus does not give the same levels of protection.

Anyone over 18 who has had COVID will need to wait four weeks before having any dose of the vaccine, or 12 weeks for those aged 12 to 17.
