COVID-19 Day of Reflection takes place on Sunday 8 of March and marks six years since the pandemic first began.
Communities across the UK will come together in a National Day of Reflection, remembering those who have lost their lives during the pandemic and honouring the tireless work and acts of kindness shown during this unprecedented time.
There are many ways residents can get involved in the National Day of Reflection, these include:
- Making a ‘mini memorial’ to place in your window or elsewhere to spread awareness.
- Lighting a candle in memory of someone you have lost.
- Holding a moment of silent reflection for others.
- Sharing memories or photos of loved ones or writing your experiences down.
- Donating to a charity that helped you or your community during the pandemic.
- Signing an online book of remembrance, to leave a digital tribute.
- Performing an act of kindness for a friend, family member or neighbour.
There also a number of events taking place across the country. You can view a map of all events online.
At a meeting of Council on 4 March, elected members held a minutes silence to mark COVID-19 Day of Reflection.
Cllr Christine Bannon, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, said:
“The COVID-19 Day of Reflection provides us all with the opportunity to remember those we lost and the impact the pandemic had on us all.
“Although the pandemic was six years ago, its impact continues to be felt and it is important that residents know there is help and support available.”
