Connect to the Classroom begins at Bluebell Park

by Gemma Melling

Bluebell Park School in Kirkby is the first school in Knowsley to secure funding through the Connect to the Classroom programme which is funded by the Department for Education.

The programme aims to help schools across the country to upgrade their wireless network infrastructure. Upgrading network technology will mean that pupils can benefit from fast and reliable access to online resources to enhance their learning.

Knowsley has been identified as an Education Investment area, meaning schools in borough are eligible to apply to bid for funding through the Connect to the Classroom programme.

The Council’s School IT team has developed bids for 40 schools in the Borough with Bluebell Park being the first to secure funding. It is hoped that around £2.25m could be secured to enable more schools in the Borough to benefit from having network upgrades which would support enhancing learning and teaching experiences.
