Thousands headed to Court Hey Park this the weekend to enjoy the return of the Knowsley Feelgood Festival and Flower Show, with families, residents and visitors soaking up two days of free entertainment, community activities and floral celebrations.

Held over the 1 and 2 August, the popular events transformed Court Hey Park into a hive of activity. With live music, interactive performances, market stalls, information stands, family attractions and delicious food from around the world, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Children and families took part in a range of free activities throughout both days, including face painting, circus skills workshops, craft activities and visits from the ever-popular Bubble Fairy. New for this year, Bertie Bird’s Adventures in the Forget-me-not Garden captivated younger visitors with storytelling, puppetry and creative activities inspired by the children’s book by Becci Cleator.

Music played a significant role across the weekend, with a packed programme of performances from local artists and emerging talent. Crowds gathered in the Courtyard throughout both days to enjoy sets from performers including Amber and the Ember, Sophie Li, The Colins, John Riley and the Antidote and The Graft, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere.

The Gladstone Main Arena also showcased a wide variety of community talent and entertainment. Festival-goers enjoyed everything from line dancing, ukulele performances and Zumba sessions to martial arts demonstrations and performances from local theatre and dance groups.

Visitors were also treated to displays from the West Lancs Dog Display Team, whose agility performances and interactive relay races delighted audiences throughout the day. A special preview from the cast of this year’s pantomime, Robin Hood, also entertained the crowds ahead of the festive season.

Land artist James Brunt returned to Knowsley for the weekend. James has previously delivered land art workshops throughout the borough and famously created the Halewood Mandala as part of Knowsley’s Borough of Culture year in 2022. Over the Feelgood Festival and Flower Show weekend James collaborated with visitor to create a brand-new piece of art themed around the Tour de France, which is coming to the Liverpool City Region in 2027.

Sunday’s Flower Show also celebrated the borough’s horticultural and creative talents with stunning floral displays, prize winning veg, and amazing bakes, crafts and more filling the Floral Marquee.

The weekend concluded with the Floral Marquee awards presentation by the Mayor of Knowsley, Cllr Edna Fineran celebrating the many growers, gardeners and exhibitors who helped make this year’s Flower Show such a success.

Cllr Shelley Powell, Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods, said:

“It was fantastic to see so many people coming together to enjoy this year’s Knowsley Feelgood Festival and Flower Show. Whether it was your first visit or you have been coming since it began in 1999, we hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Court Hey Park.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, exhibited and helped make the weekend such a tremendous success. We can’t wait to welcome you back again next year!”
