This week a celebration will be held to mark the opening of Knowsley Community College’s new campus in Huyton.
The new building, which is located within walking distance of the College’s Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology, includes new commercial kitchens and an attractive garden restaurant, multi-use games pitches, state of the art recording studio and a new home for the radio station, KCC Live.
The campus also hosts specialist centres including – Knowsley University Centre, MD Productions creative team and the Lee Stafford Academy, unique to Knowsley in the Liverpool City Region.
Situated within the former Christ the King Centre for Learning on Stockbridge Lane, the college has invested significantly in the facilities on site to ensure they offer learners a state-of-the-art environment in which to study.
It also secures educational use on the site, which the council committed to following the closure of Christ the King CfL in 2013.
The new campus was officially opened last week by Knowsley MP, George Howarth. He was joined at the ceremony by leader of Knowsley Council, Cllr Andy Moorhead, along with the council’s Chief Executive, Mike Harden and Assistant Chief Executive, Mark Butterworth. This Tuesday (18 October) there will be a VIP launch event with other invited guests, allowing them to see the new campus for themselves.
Anne Pryer, Principal of Knowsley Community College, said:
“At the heart of what we do is the belief that with support and access to fantastic resources and skilled tutors, our young people, adults and the wider community can achieve their goals. We now have a campus that provides 21st century facilities and first class equipment to better enable our students to progress on to their chosen career or higher education.
Mark Flinn, Chair of Governors at KCC, said:
“The College has worked very closely with employers to shape its offer and invested in new equipment that mirrors the best in industry. Knowsley Community College is already the best performing College in the Liverpool City Region and the new campus helps us to move forward in delivering outstanding education and skills.”
