There’s now yet another reason to visit Huyton Village to shop or socialise as the town centre welcomes the latest new venture to open, The Coffee House.
Part of an expanding chain of independent coffee shops, the owners of the new outlet say they chose Huyton Village as their next location as part of their commitment to help rejuvenate local high streets. They have seen new outlets begin to open in the town recently, including Mediterranean restaurant Eton Place and children’s play centre Crafty Mamas as well as the success of the popular Huyton Live foodie events and the ongoing work to upgrade shop fronts. The coming weeks will see family friendly eaterie Common and tapas restaurant El Pueblo open.
The brains behind The Coffee House are two brothers from Lymm in Cheshire, Chris and Stephen. Both in their early twenties, they made the decision to quit their jobs and to start up in business together with the aim of serving “fantastic coffee, homemade food and brilliant service”.
They opened the doors to the first Coffee House in Lymm Village in 2011. After this proved to be a huge success they went on to open further stores in Sale, Partington and Widnes.
Working with Knowsley Council
Chris and Stephen have worked alongside Knowsley Council to develop their plans – with both partners committed to development the village centre. The team has transformed two empty shop units to make way for a substantial 1700 sq. of space making it the fifth and largest Coffee House to date. It will play an integral part in offering local people a place to meet family, friends and work colleagues.
Cllr Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “I’m delighted to welcome The Coffee House to Huyton Village Centre, which supports our plans to attract more businesses into the village centre.
“The Coffee House has also benefitted from phase two of our shop front improvement scheme which is nearing completion. I wish Stephen and Chris well with their latest venture and would encourage you to come in and take a look at the fantastic menu they offer.”
Exciting times ahead for The Coffee House
“What we do, we will do well,’ says owner Chris Shelmerdine. “We believe that by providing excellent service, our own unique blend of coffee, fresh food made daily in our own kitchen, a fantastic range of homemade confectionaries to eat in or takeaway will provide the perfect place for people to enjoy breakfast, brunch and lunch locally.”
“It’s been hard work and long days, but what we have achieved opening Huyton is very exciting,” says Chris.
