National Dementia Carers Day is on Sunday, 8 September – a day to recognise the fantastic work the huge number of informal and family carers do to support their relatives with dementia every day.
In Knowsley, two events have been organised by Knowsley Council to recognise these unsung heroes and the work they do.
The first event will take place in Huyton at Resource Centre for Older People, Tarbock Road, L36 5XW on Thursday, 5 September from 11am until 2pm.
A further event is taking place on Monday, 9 September at Kirkby Resource Centre for Older People, James Holt Avenue, L32 5TD from 11am until 2pm
At both events, staff will be available to talk through the range of advice and support available to you in Knowsley. It will also provide an opportunity to socialise with other people who are in a similar position to you.
Hand massages are also being provided to carers too, along with cake and refreshments.
Cllr Sean Donnelly, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, said “We know that carers do a fantastic job here in Knowsley – they truly are unsung heroes. National Dementia Carers Day is an opportunity to say thank you to them and hopefully our carers can come along to one of our events.”
