Cabinet Approves Investment for Knowsley Roads

by Lisa Bennett

Knowsley’s Cabinet has approved a £32.8m Grant Funding Agreement with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to invest in Knowsley’s highways infrastructure.

The funding is part of a wider £1.58 billion Transport for City Regions (TCR) deal awarded to the Liverpool City Region by Central Government.

The investment in highway infrastructure and public transport is designed to better connect communities, including major new housing developments, while boosting productivity, driving economic growth and unlocking regeneration.

In Knowsley, this funding will be invested in all aspects of highway maintenance, road safety and sustainable travel schemes between 2027 and 2032.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, commented: “I am delighted that we have secured this significant investment for our borough’s transport network. High-quality roads and safe footpaths are a top priority for our residents, and this funding ensures we can continue to make Knowsley a better-connected place to live, work, and travel. By focusing on essential maintenance and road safety, we are making our streets safer and more reliable for everyone.”
