Businesses: Can you help the Big Help’s Knowsley Foodbank?

by Gemma Melling

The Big Help’s Knowsley Foodbank is working in partnership with Knowsley Council to ensure our most vulnerable residents are supplied with emergency food relief over the coming months.

We want to say a massive ‘thank you’ to all the businesses who have already donated food and supplies to help those facing hardship during the Coronavirus outbreak.

But your help is still needed. Here’s how you can get involved:

Food Donations

The Foodbank needs donations of staple items such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, custard, soup (cans/ packets), tinned fish, rice pudding, beans, spaghetti, tomatoes, pasta sauce, pasta, rice, vegetables, potatoes, cereal, chocolate, snacks, desserts, puddings, jam, toilet paper, toothpaste, hand wash, washing up liquid and washing powder.

Free-standing shelves

Donations or loans of free standing steel wipe-clean shelving units are needed to support the scaling-up of activity at the Big Help Project Link Rd HQ and for the proposed Food Distribution Points.  The units can be 1-2m wide and 1.8m height. Some 20 units are urgently required at the moment.  The council can coordinate collection / delivery.

Donations of large bags so that we can distribute the food parcels.  The average family food parcel weighs 16 kilos so durable/sturdy bags made out of hessian or recycled polypropylene are ideal.

Should you wish to make a cash donation to help the Food Bank purchase supplies you can donate money directly to The Big Help by visiting their fundraising page.

If you can offer any assistance on any of the above items please email Invest Knowsley / Knowsley Chamber on business@knowsley.gov.uk.
