Huge Celebration for Knowsley Business Awards

by Lisa Bennett

In the biggest ceremony to date, 850 guests came together at this year’s Knowsley Business Awards, to celebrate the success of individuals and organisations from across Knowsley and beyond.

A total of thirteen awards were handed out on the night, with a further 10 receiving a Highly Commended accolade and in a surprise announcement, a Judges Choice Award for Prescot Ambassadors was presented.

Councillor Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council said:

“Each year, the Business Awards provide an opportunity for the business community in Knowsley and further afield, to come together to recognise those individuals and organisations who are contributing towards the economic success of the area.

“We have some amazing success stories here in Knowsley and the event is a wonderful celebratory occasion. And with 850 guests this year, it certainly was a celebration. I would like to pass on my congratulations to all of this year’s winners and highly commended and thank everyone who took time to submit a nomination.”

The volume and calibre of nominations submitted is testament to Knowsley’s thriving business community and all nominations were judged by members of the Knowsley Place Board which is made up of senior figures from across the North West.

Edward Perry, Chair of the Knowsley Place Board commented:

“Once again I am delighted to have been part of the judging panel for these prestigious awards. I think I can speak on behalf of all my fellow place board members when I say that year on year we are overwhelmed by the standard of the entries. This year was no exception.

“The achievements and successes from Knowsley businesses and business people are quite remarkable and the collective contribution of our business community to Knowsley is fantastic. The awards are a great opportunity to celebrate all that hard work, determination and expertise and for me, and many others, the Knowsley Business Awards are a big highlight in my calendar.”

In a true reflection of the ‘Knowsley Place’ philosophy, the Judges Choice Award recognised the collective ambassadorial spirit of the independent business community in Prescot which is alive with passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the town centre. This is evident in the number of new businesses investing in the town during the last 12 months and the huge support this has generated on social media.

The Shakespeare North Playhouse has been the catalyst for investment in Prescot and lead sponsor for this year’s Knowsley Business Awards is Kier who are the preferred construction partner for the Playhouse.
