Bridges lit for International Workers’ Memorial Day

by Emily Maguire

Knowsley’s Greystone and Archway Road bridges will be illuminated in purple on Sunday 28 April to commemorate International Workers’ Memorial Day, remembering those who have lost their lives at work, or from work-related injury and diseases.

“The Climate Crisis and Workers’ Health” is this year’s theme, chosen by the International Trades Union Congress (TUC) for this year’s International Workers’ Memorial Day.

Sunday 28 April 2024 is an important day and an opportunity to remember and to consolidate everyone’s focus on the issue of workers’ health and safety.

The day highlights every worker should have a right to a voice and a right to protection, and that no-one should have to die to make a living.

People in Knowsley are invited to take part in a one minute silence at 12pm on 28 April, to remember all those who have lost their lives at work.

More information about International Workers’ Memorial Day is available on the TUC’s website.
