Bowring Park unveils packed August programme of family fun

by Cathy Sheel

Bowring Park & Golf Course has launched its summer activity programme, with a full month of free and affordable events for families, children, and the wider community.

With everything from superhero visits and Taylor Swift singalongs, to dog shows, creative workshops and pop-up food and drink experiences, August promises to deliver the park’s most vibrant and inclusive programme yet.

Highlights include:

  • Meet Spiderman (12 Aug) and Meet Ariel (19 Aug): Two character-led afternoons of dress-up competitions, games and performances for children.
  • Taylor Swift Singalong Experience (20 Aug): A unique event for fans of all ages, featuring karaoke-style sessions and friendship bracelet making in a joyful celebration of the music and spirit of Taylor Swift.
  • Mahou Pop-Up Evening (29 Aug): A relaxed summer evening of complimentary drinks, live music and glass-decorating activities in partnership with Mahou.

The month-long programme also features:

  • Sundays in the Park (3–24 Aug): Local traders, food, crafts and family fun every Sunday, 12–4pm.
  • Hype Bike Workshops (Every Wednesday): Free bike sessions for children including cleaning, repairs and learn-to-ride coaching.
  • End of Summer Family Fun Day (24 Aug): The big finale with games, activities, entertainment and community stalls.
  • Dog Show (28 Aug): A light-hearted competition for dogs of all shapes and sizes, with local pet-focused businesses on site.
  • Additional creative workshops including bird box decorating (14 Aug), a school uniform sale in partnership with Rebuild with Hope (19 Aug), and ongoing forest school sessions and disc golf throughout the month.

Oisin Hennessy, Project Lead at Bowring Park, said:

“We’ve put together a programme that reflects what Bowring does best – bringing people together in a space that’s welcoming, vibrant and rooted in the community. Whether you’re a parent looking for summer activities, a music lover, or someone who just wants to soak up the atmosphere on a sunny Sunday, there’s something here for everyone.”

All events take place within the historic grounds of Bowring Park & Golf Course, one of Liverpool’s most loved green spaces, located just off the M62.
