‘Better Off Finance’ project extended to support self-employed through outbreak

by Gemma Melling

Are you self-employed?  Or supporting someone who is?

The ‘Better Off Finance’ team at Citizens Advice Knowsley remain open and are working with existing and new clients by telephone and email.

Alongside unemployed and economically inactive residents, self-employed Knowsley residents can now access the project to receive financial capability advice and ‘better off ‘calculations to help them weigh up their financial options.

The Government has committed to provide an income of 80% based on the last three years business profits, however this will not be paid until June.  Advice for this group includes a new claim for Universal Credit, however those already in receipt of Tax Credits or Housing Benefit will see these benefits replaced by the single Universal Credit payment.

You can refer yourself to the project if you are self-employed or, if you are supporting someone who is, you can make a referral on their behalf.

Download and complete the referral form making sure it includes your/the resident’s email and telephone number and email it to bof@citizensadviceknowsley.org.uk.

Although their offices are closed, Citizens Advice Knowsley services are open and can be contacted as follows:

Phone: 0300 330 9008 (Adviceline – telephone advice service)
