A young clean-up campaigner’s efforts to keep her neighbourhood litter-free have been recognised by Knowsley Council.
Seven-year-old Ava Middleton from Huyton wrote to the council about people dropping litter in her local neighbourhood and asked whether it would be possible to install a new litter bin near her home. She also created a poster encouraging locals to keep the area clean.
Following her request, the council installed a new litter bin at Cassino Road, Huyton, and the council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods Cllr Shelley Powell recognised Ava’s environmental commitment by presenting her with a special certificate of recognition and goody bag.
Cllr Powell said: “It’s great to see such a young person taking a pride in her local community and taking action to help keep her neighbourhood clean, so we were delighted to support her efforts. This is an area of high footfall, so meets the criteria for the installation of an additional litter bin.”
Well done Ava!
