Over 26 applications have been received from community groups and organisations for the Kirkby Community Fund.
More than £132,000 of grant funding was available (£110,000 for capital projects and £22,000 for revenue projects) to support their work in the town, administered through the Kirkby Neighbourhood Board.
The applications received have a total value of just over £460,000, which support the Board’s priorities for Kirkby to deliver a vibrant town centre; safe and stronger neighbourhoods; and empower people to succeed.
Now, a panel with representatives from the Kirkby Neighbourhood Board will be shortlisting the projects which will then be considered at the next Kirkby Neighbourhood Board meeting in September.
The Kirkby Neighbourhood Board Community Fund is a package of support funded through the Government’s Pride in Place programme.

“We know that there are already so many local organisations and groups providing fantastic support to the local community here in Kirkby and that many are reliant on funding to maintain or improve their offer.
“Through the Kirkby Neighbourhood Board Community Fund, we can provide a financial boost to organisations who share our aim of improving life for all Kirkby residents.”
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications in September with successful applications receiving the grant in October.
