Almost 100 people from businesses and organisations in Knowsley came together for the latest Knowsley Ambassadors event this week.
Knowsley Ambassadors is a network of public, private and voluntary sector organisations as well as influential individuals who are all committed to promoting and enhancing Knowsley as a brilliant place to live, work, invest and do business.
Their latest event was held at the iconic Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot, where delegates heard from a number of high-profile speakers.
These included the new Lord-Lieutenant for Merseyside – Peter Oliver OBE. His role is to act as The King’s personal representative, supporting community, voluntary, social and business initiatives across Merseyside.
Originally from Birkenhead, Peter is passionate about the local area and the talent and many success stories locally. He spoke to the assembled businesses and organisations about ways to recognise their success – including the Kings Award for Enterprise and the wider honours system.
Peter also took part in a panel discussion with representatives from three Knowsley businesses who have previously won Queen’s / King’s Awards: Rachael Baker, Managing Director of JJ Smith; Andy Dockerty, Founder and Director of Adlib and Dean Dumbell, Group Chief Executive of Knowsley Development Trust. The discussion explored the difference it has made to them and their organisations, with the aim of inspiring others.
Peter Oliver, MBE, said: “It was a great pleasure to be invited to engage at this Knowsley Ambassadors event and to contribute to a panel discussion alongside leaders of organisations who have been honoured with King’s and Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.
“Hearing directly what this prestigious recognition has meant to them and their organisations was both informative and uplifting.
“We’re here to support businesses across Merseyside and I hope the discussion we had at this event will inspire more organisations across Knowsley to pursue the recognition that their achievements and successes so richly deserve.”
Feedback from Ambassadors was once again very positive, with attendees having an opportunity to build stronger networks to benefit Knowsley – and perhaps plan ahead for royal recognition in the future!
