AiM celebrates its first anniversary

by Laura Johnston

AiM is the regional adoption agency for Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral, bringing together a team of around 50 staff from across the four councils.  Having shared resources, expertise and processes has provided enormous benefits to children and young people.

Over the year, AiM has matched over 70 children with their adoptive families across the region and Adoption Panels have been effectively implemented to support this process. In addition, the Adoption Support Service has received over 300 applications to the Adoption Support Fund and a number of adoptive family engagement events have been arranged, with positive feedback received. The culture and identity of AiM continues to progress and social worker practice has been developed to a high standard.

Going forward, the recruitment of adopters will remain a service priority to ensure timeliness in matching children to their adoptive families. Consultation and feedback with adoptive families is also a priority, helping to inform service development.

Further information about AiM is available on the Adoption in Merseyside website.
