70 young people secure apprenticeship opportunities

by Jonathan Kearney

The Knowsley Apprentice programme has recently recruited 70 young people into a range of Apprenticeship vacancies across the Borough.

In the last two weeks’ alone, 45 young people have already started their apprenticeship in a range of sectors including Electrical, Plumbing, Joinery, Housing and Customer service.

The remaining 25 young people will be starting their apprenticeship over the coming weeks.

Apprenticeships offer a range of benefits for school leavers, providing them with on-the-job training, earning a wage, learning and gaining a qualification and often can secure employment once their apprenticeship finishes.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “Our Knowsley Apprentice programme offers a great opportunity to help young people to take their first step on the employment ladder.

“It’s a successful programme that has helped thousands of young people into work and supported them while they continue to train and gain further qualifications.

“I’m delighted that 70 young people have secured an apprenticeship and I wish them well as they start on their career path.”
