Work to deliver £1 million of sporting improvements at Jubilee Park in Huyton will begin on site in May 2026 following confirmation that a contractor has now been appointed. The project – which is part of a wider investment programme at the park will create a new 3G football pitch and associated parking for the much-loved local football club Huyton Juniors FC.
Stephen Smith, Chairman of Huyton Juniors FC said: “We are excited to now have a firm start date for such an important project for the Page Moss area. I know that the children and families we support will be just as pleased to see spades in the ground this spring.
Huyton Juniors have always been passionate about engaging as many local youngsters as possible to enjoy sport. To have first class facilities like this, that are ran by the community for the community, will help kids across Page Moss and Huyton have better access to football and sport and also support the wider park.”
The new facilities will not only include a state-of-the art 3G all-weather pitch but also hardstanding viewing areas for spectators, flood lighting to ensure the facilities can be enjoyed all year round, and a new car park. The pavilion, which was refurbished last year, will also re-open as part of the new Jubilee Sports Hub which is proposed to be ran by Huyton Juniors Football Club as the Huyton Jubilee Community Sports Hub CIC.
This latest work is funded largely by a grant from the Football Foundation, developer contributions and an additional a contribution from Knowsley Council as part of its ongoing investment into parks and green spaces across the borough.
